Where are the white kids in LA?

I know I don't live in a white neighborhood. That's obvious. But what is interesting is that many neighborhoods with significant numbers of anglos, like Hollywood for example, don't actually have many anglo children in school. The truth is that it is young apartment-dwelling anglo adults or near retirees that remain in core LA. Young families follow the affordable housing out to the desert or the 909.

So, lets take a look at which LAUSD high schools of conventially large size (1000+) have at least 25% anglo students, and then see where these schools are.

Lets also check out LAUSD high schools with less than 1% white students.

The 6 schools with at least 25% anglo non-latino students are
El Camino Real SH in Woodland Hills,
Granada Hills SH in Granada Hills,
Grant SH in Valley Glen,
Palisades Charter SH in Pacific Palisades,
Taft SH in Woodland Hills
and Verdugo Hills HS in Tujunga.

Keep in mind that the is just for LA Unified School District and doesn't include the tiny magnet or charter schools.

The 18 schools with less than 1% anglo students are
Bell SH in Bell
Belmont High, Garfield High, Freemont, Crenshaw, Dorsey, Jefferson, Jordan, King-Drew Medical Magnet, Lincoln, Locke, Los Angeles, Manual Arts, Roosevent, Washington Prep, and Wilson High in Los Angeles
Huntington Park SH in Hungting Park
and San Fernando HS in San Fernando

There are 26 other large high schools in LAUSD that have between 1% and 25% anglos.

On the linked map, schools in blue have 25% anglo or more, schools in green have less than 1% anglo.

Here are the 25% anglo schools

The result is pretty interesting. Only the regions of the valley next to the foothills seem to have significant percentages of anglo children that go to LAUSD non-charter high schools.
